Interview with Emilia, Romanian beauty blogger in South Korea: "Well-groomed skin is much easier to apply makeup to"

Interviu cu Emilia, beauty blogger român în Coreea de Sud: „Un ten bine îngrijit e mult mai ușor de machiat”

Emilia is a Romanian beauty blogger who moved to South Korea a few years ago and was kind enough to share tips and secrets from her experience with us. Read the full interview with Emilia here.

Momirov: – Why did you choose to become a beauty blogger?

Emilia: – I started this passion 10 years ago when I moved to South Korea. Why? South Korea is number 1 in the world when it comes to skincare. In the morning, you can see everyone in the subway, from young women to adult women, taking out their skincare kits and doing their morning routine.

Momirov: – Since you mentioned young women, what advice do you have for very young girls who want to start a skincare routine?

Emilia: – First of all, the routine is very important… but the routine needs to be adapted to the age. I don't suggest girls under 25 use products with hyaluronic acid. The skin needs to breathe at this young age... Yes, age-appropriate care. First of all, those creams with SPF are extremely important, both in summer and winter.

Momirov: – What is the ideal routine for summer skincare?

Emilia: – In the evening, much more emphasis should be placed on the skin + hydrating masks. Many people, I've noticed, have a wrong perception when using a sheet mask and the skin remains oily... Do not wash your face, but massage all the serum into the skin. The evening routine is extremely important; pores are open and all products work much better overnight. In the morning, hydration is necessary, exfoliation and a scrub at least once a week.

Momirov: – If you had to give up all your cosmetics and keep only two products, which would they be?

Emilia: – Hmm, those creams with sun protection that tint your skin (tone up sun cream) and a creamy lipstick (which I can use on lips, cheeks, and eyelids).

Momirov, Romanian skincare brand: – By what criteria do you choose a skincare product? What influences you most in choosing it?

Emilia: – First of all, by ingredients, texture, absorption, the reaction of the first contact with the skin, and then its effects! There are products you can use two or three times and notice changes in your skin, but some require 3-4 weeks of testing!

Momirov: – What do you think about 100% natural products compared to regular ones?

Emilia: – It depends! In general, I like them and haven't encountered any problems using them... but we can also be allergic to natural products... The most important thing is how they are used, knowing your skin type, and following a routine appropriate for your age and skin type.

Momirov: – How important do you think diet is for skin appearance and care?

Emilia: – It's important! But let's not blame only that! Both are like two magnets that attract each other... healthy eating doesn't necessarily mean healthy skin. Even if you eat much more naturally and cleanly, and your skin is full of makeup in the evening and you forget to cleanse it properly, you haven't solved anything... So both are necessary!

Momirov: We know you've been living in South Korea for a few years now. How do you see the Korean skincare routine compared to the Romanian one?

Emilia: Very different! First of all, the emphasis is on well-groomed skin, not so much masked... Koreans have a very diverse skincare routine (the 10 Korean steps). They focus on buying skincare products, not makeup (which is extremely important). Well-cared-for skin is much easier to "make up."

Momirov: – What is the secret of Korean cosmetics and why have they become so beloved worldwide?

Emilia: – There are many secrets... First of all, they are largely concentrated from rice, algae, and peptides... things vital to the skin. Their quality is proportionate (often the price is too good for the quality of the products), but there are also a few companies here that are not exactly okay... I've seen them on the Romanian market and I don't recommend them.

Momirov: Finally, tell us what you do to stay young, both externally and internally?
Emilia: – Well, I mostly resemble my mother and the genes are good, but, first of all, I have a morning and evening routine appropriate for my skin (30+), I consume fruits and vegetables plus liquids (not in excess), food supplements (omega 3), but in summer I prefer to extract my vitamins naturally. To stay young internally, I always draw inspiration from everyday life, I live every second with joy and always smile. Let's be content with what we have; that will make us much younger! Image is important regardless of age; feel beautiful and wear what you want and like. I always focus on this idea, of being unique and in my place. What is inside reflects outwards.
